MnROAD Data
MnROAD is an accelerated pavement testing facility made up of various research materials and pavements owned and operated by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. This portal provides visualization and access to part of MnROAD data.
Find MnROAD Sections (a.k.a Section Filters) enables the user to define (and refine) search criteria to narrow down the MnROAD section selection. Users can apply filters from multiple classifications at their discretion. Selected section count is updated in real time as the user applies filters.

The Performance Graphs allows user to visualize the change in various performance attributes as a function of the survey dates, days, or ESALs since construction for the selected sections. The performance graphs of up to four sections can be compared side by side. This feature also allows the user to save the performance graphs as images.
Ride quality data for Van 1 and Van 2 are from inertial laser profilers on two different survey vans. IRI values are averaged between the two wheel paths. Data for LISA are from a lightweight inertial laser profiler. IRI values are averaged between the two wheel paths and among the three methods of one point laser, three point lasers, and three Roline lasers.
Rutting Average
Horizontal Axis Type:
Rut depth data for Van 1 and Van 2 are from inertial laser profilers on two different survey vans. Rut depth values are averaged between the two wheel paths. Data for ALPS are from the MnROAD Automated Laser Profile System (ALPS) and are averaged between the two wheel paths.
HMA Transverse Cracking
Horizontal Axis Type:
HMA Transverse Cracking data are the sum of the total length for Low, Moderate, and High severity Transverse Cracking obtained from field visual distress surveys on hot mix asphalt concrete pavements.
HMA Fatigue Cracking
Horizontal Axis Type:
HMA Fatigue Cracking data are the sum of the total area for Low, Moderate, and High severity Fatigue Cracking obtained from field visual distress surveys on hot mix asphalt concrete pavements.
PCC Longitudinal Cracking
Horizontal Axis Type:
PCC Longitudinal Cracking data are the sum of the total length for Low, Moderate, and High severity Longitudinal Cracking obtained from field visual distress surveys on jointed Portland cement concrete pavements.
PCC Cracked Panels
Horizontal Axis Type:
PCC Cracked Panels data are calculated by dividing the number of cracked concrete panels by the number of total panels in each section, obtained from field visual distress surveys on jointed Portland cement concrete pavements.
PCC Transverse Cracking
Horizontal Axis Type:
PCC Transverse Cracking data are the sum of the total length for Low, Moderate, and High severity Transverse Cracking obtained from field visual distress surveys on jointed Portland cement concrete pavements.
FWD Deflection
Horizontal Axis Type:
FWD Deflection data for HMA pavement sections are the average deflection values under the center of the load for the 9-Kip load level, averaged between the two wheel paths and across all stations in each section. FWD Deflection data for PCC pavement sections are the average deflection values under the center of the load for the 9-Kip load level on the middle of each panel, averaged across all stations in each section.
PCC Faulting
Horizontal Axis Type:
PCC Fault depth data are the elevation differences from leave to approach side of transverse joints averaged across all joints in each section and at different offsets from the centerline.
